PRAYER
Calling all prayer warriors! We have multiple opportunities for you to exercise your giftedness in lifting up the local Body of Christ and surrounding community by participating in one or more of the following prayer teams:
Daily Prayer Team
The church receives numerous requests for prayer on a daily basis. These requests are compiled and posted each weekday evening. Members of this team commit to accessing and praying for these requests daily, via voicemail or internet.
† Daily Prayer Follow-up Team
This ministry is designed to contact each individual, via phone or mail, who requests prayer through our Daily Prayer ministry. Members of this team provide encouragement, communicate the support of the church, pray with people over the phone whenever possible, and send encouraging cards/notes when appropriate.
Emergency Prayer Team
Occasionally, time-sensitive requests are received either over the weekend or early on a weekday morning. Members of this team receive, pray for and pass along these requests via phone chain.
Weekly Prayer Follow-up Team
In addition to daily requests, the church also gathers prayer requests from the Connection Cards filled out at each weekend service. These are compiled, distributed evenly and mailed to members of this team, who follow up with each individual by phone or mail with encouragement and prayer.

HELPING HANDS
Are you blessed with the gift of mercy or helps? Again, we have multiple opportunities for you to exercise your giftedness. Helping Hands is designed to assist both the Believers and pre-Believers around us who find themselves in difficult economic or physical circumstances. If you have a heart to serve and meet people's needs in different ways, this ministry is for you. Following is a partial list of available methods to serve our congregation and community:
† Financial Counseling Team
Applicants to Helping Hands are assigned a financial counselor who provides accountability, assistance in analyzing current circumstances, and suggestions for moving toward proper budgeting and fiscal management. Strong boundaries and financial skills are essential.
Food Pantry Team
Members of this team staff, stock, inventory, and organize the Food Pantry during a set weekly shift. Emphasis is placed on ministry to and prayer for those individuals who utilize the ministry. In addition, there is always a need for donations to keep our pantry well-stocked (most especially paper goods, toiletries, laundry and dish soap, and canned goods).
Prepared Meal Team
This ministry is designed to supply several meals a week to an individual or family going through extreme circumstances who is not already part of an established ministry within the church.
Transportation Team
This ministry provides rides to/from the doctor, store or church for those in our congregation who are no longer able to drive themselves.
† Service Provider Team
Members of this team volunteer their time and talents to bless the less fortunate around us. Examples are: all manner of home maintenance, appliance repair, landscaping, housecleaning, moving assistance, auto repair, medical/dental services, etc. If you have an aptitude or profession (listed or not) that could be of service to someone the church recommends, please call Cindy at 714.777.7384 or by email.
† Miscellaneous Donations
Friends Church is sponsoring a volunteer social worker through Community Action Partnership by supplying needy families with donations of: furniture, sheets, towels, kitchen items, working appliances & electronics, children’s & baby clothing in good condition, baby cribs, strollers, etc. CAP will pick up from your home and leave a tax receipt. Please call George at 714.899.0034 x5350 and tell him you are with Friends Church.

MORE OPPORTUNITIES
Nothing caught your eye yet? Well, stick around and give us one more chance to dazzle you! Following you’ll find a list of additional ministries we provide that don’t fit into a neat little category (kind of like us):
Stephen Ministry
This program equips lay persons to provide distinctively Christian one-on-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life crises, both in our congregation and community. Following the training, each care-giver is matched up with one or more care-receivers to minister to. For more information about the training click here.
Friends in Recovery
Friends in Recovery is a Christian recovery program based on the Twelve Steps with Jesus Christ as our Higher Power. Together, we learn to apply the biblical principles in the Twelve Steps to our lives one day at a time. Much of our healing comes from being able to share our feelings, hurts, pain, victories, and defeats in a safe and confidential group setting. It is both comforting and healing to know that others have dealt with the same problems and been able to overcome. For more information about the program click here.
† Hospital/Shut-in Visitation Team
This ministry provides the ill, aged and physically frail among us with encouragement, support, comfort and care. It includes visiting those in the hospital, a nursing home and/or shut-ins at home over both short- and long-term periods. We take the opportunity to pray with each person and help with other family needs when appropriate.
⇒ For Stephen, and Visitation contact Cindy at 714.777.7384 or by email.
† Funeral Team
This ministry reaches out to the family and friends of a departed loved one with compassionate support. Our goal is to come alongside the bereaved by arranging and administrating the memorial services and receptions in order to take as much burden as possible off those who are grieving.
Office Volunteers
There are virtually endless opportunities to serve in Care Ministries as a volunteer office assistant. If you’re an organized person who can commit to helping with a specific project or taking on a weekly shift, we have a place for you! Contact Susan at the number below to discuss or make arrangements.
